Voici un groupe actif depuis plus de trente ans et dont la créativité, l'existence même sont considérés par ses membres comme des espaces de liberté qui doivent être le moins possible entravés. Ce qui explique peut-être une relative discrétion qui est aussi possiblement un des secrets de leur longévité et de leur vitalité. S'appuyant sur de solides fondements punk rock - Swell Maps, TV Personalities ou même Cosmic Psychos ne sont jamais trop loin - le groupe garde néanmoins beaucoup de latitude par rapport à toute forme de genre ou de courant musical, cultivant patiemment des compositions qui prennent parfois des tournures hardcore, noise ou pop. S'ils ont bien apposé le terme de "trout core", c'est vraisemblablement pour l'association d'idée humoristique entre la truite et la scène punk hardcore. L'humour est une langue étrangère qu'ils pratiquent quotidiennement. Leur musique reste fondamentalement inqualifiable, tourbillon sonique percuté de saillies quasi-théâtrales trempant longuement dans un dilettantisme increvable, flagrant et jubilatoire. Ce nouvel album ne déroge pas à la règle immuable des précédents: foutraque, parcouru de fulgurances comme des bouffées d'air frais dans un monde terriblement étouffant. D'un clin d'œil à la brutalité froide des nordiques de Brainbombs à un autre aux australiens de Total Control en passant par une ritournelle ensauvagée sur quelques chaudes cervelles cévenoles, tout se tient miraculeusement grâce au savoir-faire unique de ce groupe singulier et curieux qui assume pleinement d'avoir créé un monde à lui, follement artistique - brouillant malicieusement en public les frontières entre concert, spectacle, performance, projections de films bricolés - et fièrement marginal.

Here is a band that has been active for over thirty years, whose creativity — and actually its very existence — is viewed by its members as a space of freedom that should be hindered as little as possible. This may explain their relative low profile, which is also likely one of the secrets behind their longevity and vitality. Building on solid punk rock foundations — Swell Maps, TV Personalities, or even Cosmic Psychos are never far away — the band nevertheless maintains considerable freedom from any specific genre or musical trend, patiently crafting compositions that sometimes take on hardcore, noise, or pop elements. If they have indeed coined the term “trout core,” it is likely due to the humorous association between trout and the hardcore punk scene. Humor is a foreign language they practice daily. Their music remains fundamentally unclassifiable, a sonic whirlwind punctuated by quasi-theatrical outbursts steeped in an indestructible, blatant, and jubilant amateurism. This new album is no exception to the unchanging rule of its predecessors: chaotic, streaked with flashes of brilliance like breaths of fresh air in a terribly stifling world. From a nod to the cold brutality of the Nordic band Brainbombs to another to the Australians of Total Control, via a wild, rambling tune born of a few fevered minds from the Cévennes, everything miraculously holds together thanks to this band’s unique expertise. A curious group who fully assumes having created a world of its own, wildly artistic - mischievously blurring in public the boundaries between concert, show, performance, screenings of homemade films - and proudly marginal.
